Welcome to Domek Charolais

Thanks for stopping by for a visit. We are glad you have taken time to check out our operation.

Our ranch Headquarters is located on the high plains of eastern Montana ,10 miles NW of Wibaux. We also have my grandfather Harry Parfit's original farming and ranching operation located near Ypsilanti, ND. The origin of the Box P brand on our cattle.

We are a no frills family ranching operation with our purebred Charolais herd running on the Montana short grass prairie where the annual rainfall is 14.5 inches. Yearling heifers and some cows with heifer calves pasture on the ND native mixed grass prairie pastures.

We believe our cows should be functional and utilize the available native and tame grass forage to produce cattle that will work for our customers. Grass hay and protein supplement are provided in the winter months.

Austin also offers large animal veterinary services in both Montana and North Dakota. DBA: Blue Mountain Veterinary Service. Click on the menu above for more details.

Our Breeding Program stresses importance on quite, docile temperaments in all of our cattle along with, fertility and structurally sound feet and legs. Calving-ease, performance and scrotal size are selected for in our bulls. Self sustaining moderate sized 1250-1350 lb. cows with mothering ability and quality udders are selected for in the breeding herd.

We believe our cattle should fit the environment they are in and not have high dollar inputs to produce a quality animal. This is why creep feed is never fed to our calves. Thus ensuring the weaning growth and performance is genetic, not artificially fed in.

Calves like this are what can happen when using our bulls in a cross breeding program. Heterosis is an amazing tool with just the selection of a bull from another breed.
